Rumor has it; Mermaids will visit Aruba

Today I hope to witness a Mermaid sighting.
Somewhere in Aruba on a sandy beach, location is a secret, there is a change we will be able to see a Mermaid in the ocean. Mermaid sightings are very rare nowadays, because less people believe in them. I believe, so I have a chance in spotting them. I will wear anything I have Mermaidy, to see if my sisters will come to shore.

I will bring my camera too and will post anything interesting here on this blog, once mermaids are seen. If this week they do not show, I will go back tomorrow and update you.

writing for the Simply...Woman Global Summit

What am I doing in Aruba at the moment?

Well; I have a new writing assignment, which is going to be great. It is called: "Positive thinking, it is a lifestyle". That 7 tips document, will be my Free bonus gift to you. It is about learning how to think more positive. You can really learn it and it is a change of mindset. It is a wonderful thing, once you train this ability. When you sign up to my news letter here on this webpage, I will email you this Free bonus gift..

Crystal Andrus Morissette has gathered together 29 magnificent women who have risen against the odds for the first-ever Simply...Woman Global Summit and it starts this Saturday, April 14th!

You will want to meet these women, listen to their stories, and reap the benefits of their profound life lessons!

Every day for 30 days, you'll get to watch (or you can listen to the audio-only version) of a 30-minute interview I have with each of our contributing authors for the new book, "Simply...Woman! Stories from 30 magnificent women who have risen against the odds."

On day two, meet Shelli Lether as she recounts her life in Hollywood, married to a blockbuster movie producer who battles her own demons as she realizes she does not have the skills to parent her children and she is imploding. Her picture-perfect life is far from perfect.

You'll also want to meet Neyor on Day 3 from Liberia, Africa as she shares about her life growing up and the devastation of the Liberian Civil War. She has adopted 44 children -- many who were children soldiers. Her story is so powerful!

You'll also want to meet Hamda, who lives in Palestine. Her harrowing tale of travelling through the Occupied Territory for close to 12-hours to get out of the country into Jordan and then the long flight home to America, where her sister has gone missing, and the police are searching for her is riveting!

These are just a few of the stories in our Simply...Woman Global Summit. I guarantee, all these women will leave you laughing, crying and cheering not only for them but your own life, as well!

Plus, you'll receive a gift from all of our authors -- as well as from Crystal! In fact, there are over 60+ bonus gifts up for grabs including the '12-Week Emotional Edge Telecourse' that starts in September!

All you have to do is register; www.simplywomansummit.com there is no charge!

Moving abroad

Moving abroad- People often ask me; "how did you do it"?
Moving to Aruba, finding a job, getting the permit, and buying a house. It is not that difficult but you need to do some research before moving, save some money, get your paperwork in order, and have a place to stay (rent) for the beginning of your stay in a new country.

I moved from the Netherlands to Spain (Southern Europe), then to Belize (Central America) and last but not least; Aruba (Southern Caribbean).
In each country the government officials need to see either; proof of income, and/ or an employer signing for you to work for them.
In order to get your residence to work or retire, there are several things needed;
a clean police record, in some countries a lung photo or another doctors proof that you have no illness that can spread, a birth certificate, a proof of income and/or savings, proof of (travel) insurance.

In Aruba there is a website where you can book an appointment with a government official, see link;
https://www.dimasaruba.aw/en/
Their language options are Dutch, English and Spanish.
On their website, Dimas provides you with information about which paperwork you need to hand in and that is also where I started myself; Dimas. After spending 10 days on the island, I knew right away; "this is where I want to live".

Within 6 months after that first visit to Aruba I moved to Aruba, rented an apartment, started to work within approx. 3 months (waiting time to get the work permit) and we are now 14 years later, and I never looked back. This sunny & friendly island makes my heart happy.

Real Estate tips for buying in Aruba

Buy land, a condo or a home on Aruba.

Very often we hear from our clients that they were told that non-residents cannot buy land, a condominium or a home in Aruba. We can tell you that these stories are not true. All non-residents can buy land or a house in Aruba going through the same process as the Aruban residents. They can buy a home on property land as well as on long lease land.

Long Lease land

Besides property land you can buy a house which is built on lease land. This land is owned by the Land of Aruba and the lease is for 60 years.

A yearly fee is paid for these lease rights. After the 60 years, the lease period will automatically be extended with another 60 years. The only thing that might happen when the lease period is extended is an increase in the yearly fee.

Most of the houses situated in Arashi, Malmok, Tierra del Sol, Topaz, Safir, Esmeralda, Ruby, Opal, Salinja Serca and Palm Beach are built on lease land. Many non-residents have bought there and will keep buying in those areas although the homes are built on lease land!

The reason they keep buying houses in those areas is because of their locations. These areas are close to the spas, golf course, tennis courts and shopping malls. Another huge advantage is the distance to the ocean.

Condo projects

Currently there are several condo projects in development on Aruba. For more information about these projects, you can contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Taxes

The most attractive fact when you are thinking of buying a house in Aruba is that the costs related to the ownership of a house or land are very low.

The only yearly tax you have to pay is called land tax. This land tax is usually based on the selling price. The first USD 34.000 is free of tax. On average you pay USD 4 per USD 1.000.
